The quiet before the storm
Today was my last day of work as a temp at Bisys. I must admit, it was a bittersweet day. Bagels were enjoyed by all. I trained my replacement. I told all of my co-workers that I am moving to Chicago. Back up. Why would I tell my co-workers that I was moving to Chicago? Its a long boring story. The moral is I am a nice guy. This line of reasoning may not seem to make sense. Allow me to elaborate in the most mercifully brief manner that I can. When I got the job in Japan, I realized two things immediately, one, I was going to live in Japan for a year, and two, I was dead broke. I needed a temp gig bad, but I mistakenly told the agency that I had taken the job in Japan. After almost three whole weeks of radio silence from them, however, I realized that I had to do something. Thus, I called up the temp agency and told them that the job in Japan fell through. BAM! I start getting calls daily from the temp people, and soon I am working at Bisys. So when I quit, I didn't want to come clean. Sometimes the painful truth is not the best strategy, and the temp people were really nice. Therefore, I just told them that I got a job in Chicago teaching (which is true, I did get the job in Chicago). I also told my boss the same tale, to stay consistent, but I added some subtle details in there as well. Now the has taken on a life of its own and people are telling me places I should go in Chicago, I have told people where I am (not) going to be living, what a web of lies. Anyhow, so much for brief, and certainly so much for merciful. I will miss Bisys though, it was some good times. That and now that it is gone, there is nothing standing between me and the looming spectre of my year in Japan. Its a pretty scary looking spectre, but it is an exciting spectre too. That is some strange imagery, but what the hell. So here we go, not much left to do now, and less than a week until I fly away. Prepare for adventure, excitement, and trains. Thats right trains. Wish me luck.

Hey buddy, I am actually on my way to your house now for your party, but I just wanted to drop in my 2 cents. Take it easy over there, learn some Kendo or Iaido and bring me back some sushi.
